Slotwise
Class booking for a small studio: pick a session, pay with UPI or card, get the confirmation on WhatsApp. No DMs, no payment screenshots.
This is a self-initiated concept. Kiln & Co. (a fictional pottery studio) is not a real client. We built it to show how we approach this kind of problem, so there are no client metrics to report.
01
The problem
Many small studios still take bookings through Instagram DMs and confirm payments by checking UPI screenshots by hand. Seats get double-booked, no-shows cost money, and the owner spends evenings on admin instead of teaching.
02
The approach
Treat the booking as one transaction with three moments the customer must trust: the seat is really held, the payment really went through, and the confirmation really arrived. The interface makes each moment explicit, and the backend makes each one verifiable.
03
The experience
- One screen to choose a class. Seats left are visible before anyone commits.
- A 10-minute hold, with the countdown always in view, so nobody pays for a seat that's gone.
- Checkout that handles the unhappy paths: payment failed, tab closed, retry.
- A WhatsApp confirmation with the date, address and a calendar link.
04
The engineering
Slot holds
Seats are held with an expiring server-side lock, so two people can never pay for the last seat at once.
Webhook-first payments
A booking is confirmed only on a signature-verified payment.captured event. The browser redirect is treated as a hint, not proof.
Template messaging
WhatsApp Cloud API template booking_confirmation with delivery-status webhooks, plus a fallback if delivery fails.
05
The result
As a concept, this has no client results, and we won't make any up. What it does show is how the product works, and you can try that yourself.
